Louisiana Primary Care Associate offers training that requires all health care providers to learn about new training on the Medicaid Provider Registration Web Portal required by the federal government.
The training will take place in two one-hour sessions on October 13-14 and will be facilitated by Lauren C. Vaughn of the Medicaid Provider Registration Section of the Louisiana Department of Health.
Why you might need this training:
All managed care organizations and FFS service providers are now required to register as Louisiana Medicaid providers using the new Medicaid Provider Registration Portal. Enrollment is required to comply with federal laws and continue to receive reimbursement for the provision of care to Medicaid recipients from the Louisiana Department of Health.
Signing up for the Supplier Registration Web Portal is separate from the registration, selection, and authentication processes that you have completed to join the MCO Supplier Network. Managed care providers should always be enrolled, accredited and contracted in accordance with MCO requirements.
Why is Louisiana Medicaid changing its registration process?
As part of the Affordable Care Act and later refined into the 21st Century Treatments Act, federal laws enforced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require states to select and enroll ALL providers. In order to comply with federal law, the Louisiana Department of Health launched a web portal on July 26, 2021 for Medicaid and its providers to perform the necessary screenings required by CMS. This includes existing Managed Care Organization (MCO) providers, Dental Care Program Manager (DBPM) providers, Coordinated System of Care (CSoC) providers, and existing paid service providers.
