May Message from Chief Parry

Posted on May 01, 2022

May brings us a month of many special recognitions and celebrations. We recognize mothers, teachers, nurses, healthcare workers, fallen military heroes and honor the service of men and women in law enforcement. These are all critical and important professions to be recognised, honored and valued.

I recently traveled to Tallahassee to attend the 40and Florida Law Enforcement Officers Annual Memorial Service. This service was special for many in our department as one of our own, Sgt. Pat Madison, was added to the memorial wall and honored at a memorial service held in the state capitol. Pat was the first, and I hope and pray the last, Coral Springs officer to have his name engraved on the memorial wall. We will continue to honor Pat during National Police Week when he is honored at the National Police Officers’ Memorial in Washington D.C. Pat’s name will be one of 563 new names to be inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Wall Memorial.

We recognize National Police Week May 15-21, 2022. During the week, we celebrate the contributions of police officers and honor police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving their communities. If you see an agent during this week, thank them. If you see one of our officers, let him know you are thinking of his late brother, Pat Madison. The smallest gestures tend to have the biggest impact.

We celebrate mothers and mother figures on May 8and. I hope you all take the time to cherish and celebrate your mom. My mother is no longer here, but I trust that we will be together again on the other side. If your mom is alive, take the time to tell her you love her and thank her for everything she’s done for you.

We end May with Memorial Day on Monday, May 31.st. While many of us spend the holidays entertaining family and friends with a barbecue, I would ask everyone to take a moment to remember those military men and women who died while serving in the US army. It is important to honor those who gave their lives to protect this great nation.

I will end as I started. The month of May is synonymous with celebrations and recognition. I hope you all take the time to honor your mothers, teachers, nurses, hospital staff, police officers, and service men and women who lost their lives in service to our nation. I know I will. If you haven’t already, please contact me on Facebook @ChiefParry.
